Dr. Beth Abramson MD is the Paul Albrechtsen Professor in Cardiac Prevention and Women’s Health in the Division of Cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto. She is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto.

She enjoys educating the public on heart health and is a national spokesperson for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her book, Heart Health for Canadians, published in 2013, aims to help people prevent and understand heart disease. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious Harold N. Segal award of Merit, in recognition of her many contributions to preventing heart disease amongst Canadians. She is a member of the American Society of Preventive Cardiology Women’s working group, and has co-chaired the American College of Cardiology’s Hypertension working group. In 2021, she was invited to become a member of the American College of Cardiology Prevention Council.

In addition, Dr. Abramson is a founding member and inaugural Chair (2018-2020) of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance Education Working Group, which has created an electronic course and toolkit on Women and Heart Disease for MDs. Dr. Abramson’s has also been involved in the North American Menopause Societys’ (NAMS) awareness efforts.

She currently directs a fellowship in Preventive Cardiology at the University of Toronto and has recently established an academic Cardiometabolic Clinic at St. Michael’s Hospital to close care gaps. Dr. Abramson also works out of the Toronto Cardiac Clinic.

Seana Nelson, MD, FRCPC

Clinical Fellow

Seana completed her Undergraduate degree and Master of Science degree at the University of Toronto. She went on to complete medical school at Queen’s University. She completed her Internal Medicine and Cardiology training at Western University and served as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. She became interested in cardiometabolic prevention in order to prevent patient hospitalization, reduce patient mortality and improve their quality of life. Outside of medicine, Seana enjoys spending time with her family, exercising and baking.

Yenny Rodriguez, MD MSC

Virtual Adjunct Fellow

Yenny is a cardiologist with unique clinical and educational experience in diagnosing and treating patients with diverse cardiovascular conditions. She has coordinated several academic projects in the field of cardiovascular, metabolic, and renal disease, created digital medical content, and provided tutoring to physicians and non-physician healthcare workers.

Yenny is passionate about cardiac prevention and women’s cardiovascular health. She obtained her master’s degree in cardiovascular preventative medicine and believes in the importance of promoting cardiovascular prevention and educating women about their risk of cardiometabolic disease. She is also interested in research work that can lead to significant prevention strategies and so reduce the burden of CVD among women.

She advocates for global health and human rights and has voluntarily worked in underserved regions of Brazil, Colombia, Haiti, and Venezuela.

Yenny is a book lover and a sporty person who loves spending time with her family.

Daniel Esau is a general internal medicine physician with an interest in preventive cardiology and risk factor management. He recently completed a year-long fellowship in ambulatory and preventive cardiology at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. He currently works in Victoria. Research interests include the use of biomarkers in cardiovascular risk assessment.

Kajenny Srivaratharajah, MD, FRCPC

Dr. Kajenny Srivaratharajah is an Internist with a clinical and research interest in women and cardiovascular health. She is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University. She completed medical school and residency training at the University of Ottawa and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Cardiac Prevention under the tutelage of Dr. Beth Abramson, at St Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Health Science Education to support her work as a clinician-educator in the Division of General Internal Medicine at McMaster University. She continues to provide care and instruction in cardiac health and prevention through her work in the Cardiac Health and Rehabilitation Clinic at the Hamilton General Hospital.
